Yellow Liparis is a mini-miniature sized,
tree-dwelling or rock-dwelling orchid with somewhat close set, almost
ovoid pseudobulbs carrying 2, membraneous, articulate, linear to
linear-inverted-lanceshaped, tapering, narrowing below into the stalked
base leaf. The plant blooms in the fall and winter on an erect,
somewhat compressed, narrowly winged, 6-16 cm long, several to 10
flowered inflorescence with narrowly lanceshaped floral bracts carrying
whitish, green to yellowish green flowers. Flowers are whitish green or
yellowish green; flower-stalk and ovary 9-14 mm. Sepals are
lanceshaped-linear or linear, about 4 x 1 mm, midvein slightly raised
below, tip blunt; lateral sepals to 1.5 mm wide. Petals are
thread-like, about 4 x 0.3 mm. Lip is oblong-obovate, about 3.5 x 2.8
mm, with a thick longitudinal ridge near base, with a bilobed callus in
front of ridge, tip notched and sinus apiculate. Yellow Liparis is
found in Arunachal Pradesh to Indo-China, Hainan. Flowering:
December-February.
